Obituary of Zerline Hanks
Zerline was born August 16, 1929 in Tucson, Arizona to Alpha and John B. Miller. She passed peacefully on April 14, 2018 of natural causes. Most of her childhood was spent in Norton and San Angelo, Texas where she was raised by her mother and grandparents.
During her teenage years, she and her mother moved to Corning, California where she met and married Ronald ‘Blue’ Hanks. She and Blue raised two children, Ron and Rhonda. They lived in Northern California then eventually moved to Idaho in 1992 to be near son Ron and family.
Zerline had an active social life that was enhanced by many loving friends. She enjoyed a variety of different hobbies that kept her life full and vibrant. Over the past twenty years, she had been a member of a walking group, various singing and karaoke groups, Red Hats, and in recent years enjoyed frequent trips to the Meridian Senior Center to play cards or dominos. Crafting was also a favorite pastime and she spent much of her time making cards for friends and family.
Family and family history were most important to her. She loved writing down her memories and researched the family genealogy exhaustively. She enjoyed sharing stories of her childhood with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
Zerline was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald ‘Blue’ Hanks. She is survived by her son, Ron Hanks (Becky) and daughter, Rhonda Leddy, grandchildren Aimee Hill (Chad), Amber Koberg (Scott), Kevin Leddy (Melissa Peterson), and Shaun Leddy, and 5 great-grandchildren in Idaho and 8 great-grandchildren in California.
A service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 23rd at Summers Funeral Home, 3629 E. Ustick Rd., Meridian. Burial will be at a later date in Corning, California.
