Obituary of Ernest Williams

On the beautiful fall evening of November 1st, 2013, Ernest "Ernie" Doyle Williams entered into eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ernie died at home in Boise, Idaho in the company of his family after a prolonged battle with cancer at the age of 73. Ernie was born on November 6, 1939, the youngest of ten children to Dealie and Shelton Williams in Lamar County, Texas. Ernie spent forty-six years in the employment of Southern California Edison as a steam plant control operator. On August 5, 1967, Ernie married the love of his life, Yvonne Marie Williams and was faithfully married to her for 46 years. He retired from Edison in 1996 and moved to Boise, Idaho in 1999 where he worked as a driver for Avis alongside a number of dear friends. Ernie's pride and joy was his family. He and his wife were blessed with both a son (Stephen) and a daughter (Lori). Family dinners, vacations and holidays were of paramount importance to the Williams and sources of their fondest memories. Ernie enjoyed watching his Los Angeles Dodgers and Lakers, but was game for any sporting event. He was a fixture for the past 3 years at Cole Valley Christian High School in Meridian, Idaho where his 2 grandsons played both football and basketball. Ernie bowled in leagues with his family for over 40 years. He also enjoyed reading, wine and an occasional libation with his daughter and son-in-law. Ernie fought many health battles. He received a heart transplant in 1995 (resulting from congestive heart failure) and treated 4 forms of cancer since 2005. Ernie is survived by his wife Yvonne, brother and sister-in-law Carl and Judy, sister Leota, son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Jennifer, daughter and son-in-law Lori and Josh, 4 grandchildren Matthew, Sarah, Trevor and Ryan and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at New Heights Christian Fellowship in Boise, Idaho on November 7th at 5:30 pm MST. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society
