Obituary of Wyman Hall
Wyman Henry "Hank" Hall quietly passed away Saturday afternoon, November 9, 2013. He was 90 years of age. Hank was born in Ontario, OR on May, 31, 1923, the sixth and last child of Wyman Leonard and Minnie Thomas Hall. The family settled in South Boise when Hank was very young.
Hank graduated from Boise High School in 1942, and joined the United States Army Air Corps as a machinist in January 1943. He was stationed at Mountain Home AFB and Fort George G. Meade, MD, and served an eight-month deployment in Italy in 1945. He was discharged in early 1946.
Hank married Coleen May Kiler on April 25, 1943 in Boise, and they spent part of the war years together in Maryland. After the war, they settled in Boise, where Hank began a long and fulfilling career with Idaho Power Company. He retired in 1984 after more than 37 years of service.
Hank worked hard to build a wonderful life for his family, which expanded to include children Sandra, Ron, and Larry. As the children grew, so grew the cabin Hank built in the Pilgrim Cove neighborhood of McCall. Whether in a boat, on a snowmobile, or hosting a party, Hank was always in the middle of the fun.
After retirement, the Halls lived in McCall and Cascade, became snowbirds in southern California, and finally settled in Eagle. They traveled, played, and focused on family, friendships, and fun. They especially enjoyed their growing family as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren filled their lives and their hearts.
Hank and Coleen celebrated 67 years of marriage in 2008, shortly before Coleen passed away. Hank was lonely as a widower, but was determined to enjoy his remaining years. He found a kindred spirit in Margaret "Peggy" Heyting, and they shared adventures and loving companionship until his health failed this summer.
Hank loved people, and he was dearly loved in return. He was always there to share joys and sorrows, lend a helping hand, and enjoy a laugh. He was generous with his kindness, his love, and his gentle wisdom. His twinkle and his grin will be sorely missed.
Hank is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Kurt) McWilliams; son, Larry (Vicki) Hall; five grandchildren, and their extended families. He is also survived by Peggy Heyting; his brother-in-law, Alvard "Al" Kiler; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Coleen; beloved son, Ronald; five siblings; and his parents.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Fender and the Legacy Hospice team, and the staff at Amber Lane for providing care, compassion, and dignity for Hank throughout this difficult journey.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Road, Boise.
