Obituary of Arthur Record

Arthur Julius Record peacefully passed away on Friday evening, November 15, 2013 at the age of 95. He was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah to Odes and Dorcas Record. He served an LDS mission in Australia until WWII broke out when he was transferred to the NW States Mission serving in Canada. Following his mission he enlisted in the army and served as a radar technician in the Philippines. When WWII ended he returned home to SLC and then followed his adventurous heart to Los Angeles, California working as a test engineer for Xerox. While there he met his sweetheart, best friend and wife of 58 years F. Betty Carroll. They lived and raised their five children there for 35 years. They then retired and moved to Apple Valley, CA for 16 years. They have currently been living in Meridian, ID for 6 years. He is predeceased by his parents Odes B. Record and Dorcas L. Record, his two brothers Odes L. and Joseph B. Record, 3 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren. He is survived by his wife F. Betty Carroll Record, his children Ronald Record (Debra) of La Quinta, CA, Kenneth Record (Andrea) of Jacksonville, AL; Arleen Redmond (Keith) of Eagle, Id; Shannon Lysy (Kurt) of Boise, ID; and Cathy Barranco (Fernando) of Medford, OR.; his 19 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers: David Record (Maxine) and Sherman Record (Joan). Art enjoyed the hobbies of wood working, landscaping and family history. He made many trips to Australia, England, Ireland and the East Coast doing family research and building many lasting relationships along the way. But his passion was for ice cream. He always said: "The only thing better than ice cream, is ice cream ala mode." Art was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served faithfully in many callings including his service as home teacher to many widows in California. He will always be remembered for his quiet acts of kindness and his sense of humor in his stories. He was a great example to his children, grandchildren and all who knew him.
