Obituary of Clinton Taylor

On the 4th day of October, a very special man and my best friend, Clinton R. Taylor, passed suddenly from this earth. He was born in Boise to Clint, Sr. and Twilla Taylor. His father worked for Morrison Knudson and Clint and his two younger brothers, Lee and Darrell moved all over the northwest as they were growing up. He attended the University of Idaho, majoring in mathematics, and in 1965, married Mary Walsh. They divorced in 1978. In 1967, Clint enlisted in the Idaho Army National Guard and initially served as a helicopter mechanic. He earned a commission and served in many leadership positions before he retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1992. After he retired, he spent several years attending Boise State and working towards a Masters Degree. Concurrent with his service in the Idaho Army National Guard, Clint also worked in the materials testing field, first working for Northern Testing Laboratories, then for Terracon, Monroc Concrete, and finally, Materials Testing and Inspection. He also owned his own construction company, which was called Orchard Corporation. In 982, he married Teresa (Teri) Zrazik. Clint and Teri have a daughter Gina, of whom Clint was exceedingly proud. Clint, Teri and Gina worked, loved and played together. Clint came from a genetically unique family that possessed a "gene" that predisposed the family members to spend the majority of their time working. Clint liked to joke that his "hobby" was work. He was an extremely talented carpenter and builder and taught many of those skills to Teri. Together they jokingly called themselves the "Taylor Brothers" construction company and remodeled their house, rental properties, in addition to restoring old barns and cabins on their property in the mountains. Whatever project Clint undertook he prided himself on doing the highest quality work. He loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit China twice, Japan, Mongolia, Siberia, Israel (his favorite), Jordan, France, Italy, and Peru. Clint loved his father and his brothers very much and treasured the time he spent at family gatherings where everyone would sit around sharing stories (often about working)...and laughing. Clint also had a softer side few people saw. He loved art, especially watercolors and visited art galleries and exhibits whenever he could. He also loved music, 50's rock and roll, bluegrass, and gospel. He loved spending time at his place in the mountains, enjoying the solitude and working with his hands. Clint had a heart for animals, one of his most special experiences being rescuing a fawn that had been hit by car and other lost or injured animals. He was the most honest man, and valued that quality in others, prizing integrity in work and personal experiences very highly. He is survived by his wife, Teri; and daughter, Gina; brothers, Lee (Toni) Taylor and Darrell (Tammy) Taylor; Aunts Irene and June Departee; Cousin Shari Departee, Uncle Bud and Aunt Ollie Taylor; nephews, Lance and Mickey; nieces, Kari, Emma, Jennifer, and Ericka; and a heartbroken extended family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project or the Idaho Humane Society. Memorial services will be Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church, 4950 W. Bradley Street, Garden City, ID. A reception will follow. Graveside services with military honors will be at the Dry Creek Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel.
