Obituary of Barbara Williamson

Barbara Amy Williamson, 94, passed away in her sleep on May 25, 2012. She was born in Caldwell, Idaho on January 31, 1918. Barbara was the younger of two daughters born to Charles Jarvis Bush and Imogene Madden Bush. Services will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Summers Funeral Chapel, 3629 E. Ustick Road, Meridian, Idaho. Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery. Barbara spent her young years going between Eugene, Oregon, where her mother was a school teacher, and Harper, Oregon where her Father owned and operated the town's only grocery store and was the postmaster and the local pharmacist or "druggist" as she referred to it. Barbara's mother passed away when she was age 13, leaving her father to raise two teenage daughters. Barbara moved to Boise at age 19 and worked at CC Andersons Department Store. While she was in Boise, her sister Marjorie passed away leaving behind a young daughter. Barbara moved back to Harper to help her dad raise her. Barbara met Sylvan and they were married on April 13, 1941. They spent 70 years together building a wonderful life ranching. They lived in Vale, Oregon for the early part of their married life where they operated a cattle and Quarter Horse ranch. Barbara made sure the hay crews were fed properly all while looking after a houseful of kids and caring for her father and Sylvan's parents. She was a devoted wife and partner to Sylvan. They raised some of the first registered American Quarter Horses in this part of the country. In 1965, Sylvan and Barbara purchased the family ranch in Eagle where they both resided until their deaths. Together they received the very first American Quarter Horse Association Legacy Award, an award given for breeding and registering horses continuously for 50 years. Barbara had a perfect eye for style; she dressed impeccably and loved high-heel shoes. She remained sharp, had an extraordinary memory, and was physically strong until she fell in her lovely yard, resulting in some fractures. She worked hard in rehab and was gaining strength but her sweet little body was just tired. She passed away quietly in her sleep. Barbara is survived by all her children, Sons Doug (Carol), Todd, Toby (Linda) and Daughters: Betty Critzer, Diane Stevens (Jim), Kay Brassfield (Al) and Karla Brown, as well as special friends Marcelo Garcia and Very DeLaRosa. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Sylvan, sister Marjorie and grandson Justin.
