Obituary of Kenneth Hill

Kenneth Alan Hill, of Boise, passed away after a short battle with lung cancer on June 15, 2012. He was at home surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Ken was born on March 16, 1930 to John A. and Olah B. Hill at Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan. He was the middle child of a 3 boy family. Ken spent his childhood in Grand Blanc, Michigan and graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1948. Following graduation, he moved to Garden City, Long Island NY to live with his Uncle Frank and Aunt Myrtle where he worked for his uncle at the Ford dealership in Hemsted, Long Island NY. Ken later returned to Grand Blanc and continued to work in sales running his own Ford dealership in Goodrich, Michigan until 1963. Ken married Shirley Green on May 16, 1958; they spent 24 years together raising their four "delightful" children, Susan (Rusty) Walker, Jody (Paul) Chehey, Steve (Mary) Hill, and Jill (John) Thompson. Special memories include summers spent at the cottage on Higgins Lake, Michigan, snow skiing at Hit Mt. & Brundage in McCall, Idaho, deep sea fishing off the Pacific Coast and many travels spent driving, laughing, and singing(off key), we will especially miss his birthday serenades. His children will remember him as the BBQ Master and always a gentle loving father and supportive friend. His career in sales brought Ken and his family to Weiser, Idaho in 1972. He worked for Champion Mobile Homes in New Plymouth. He continued in the mobile home business throughout the remainder of his career. Ken is survived by his four children, their spouses and eight grandchildren; Michael, Spencer, and James Walker, Jace Chehey, Jack, Matthew, and Nicole Hill, and Franklin Thompson. He was preceded in death by both parents, brothers, Dick and Don Hill, Shirley, son-in-law Bart, and grandchildren, Sarah Chehey and Benjamin and Samuel Kraft. Dad asked that we have, "A fun celebration to match his great life." This celebration will take place at Discovery State Park in Boise, Idaho, Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 5-8p.m. Ken and his family would like to thank his friends, caretakers, and A Better Way Home Hospice for their love and support throughout his "great life."
