Obituary of Kenneth Jensen

Kenneth Warren Jensen, 72, was born to Kenneth and Elsie Jensen, August 2, 1940, in Los Angeles, California. He died on Friday, August 17, 2012, in Boise, Idaho. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., August 24, at Summers Funeral Home, Meridian, Idaho. An internment will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise, Idaho. Kenneth was a retired U.S. Army officer and combat-wounded veteran of the Vietnam War. After serving in the military, he became a computer systems analyst, working for Sunshine Mine's Corporate Headquarters and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management in Boise, Idaho. As an Army officer, Kenneth served in Vietnam as an infantry platoon leader with the "Black Lions" of Company D, 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He received various medals for gallantry in action while engaged in combat operations, including two Purple Heart Medals and a Silver Star Medal. Kenneth married Angie Jensen in 1962, and raised three sons. After retiring from the Army in 1968, they lived in Huntington Beach, California. In 1977, Kenneth and his family moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He moved to Boise, Idaho in 1985. Kenneth is known by many as "Coach Jensen." He spent many years coaching baseball and soccer for his kids and many others in California and Idaho. Kenneth is survived by his brother Norman Jensen, his wife Angie Jensen, his three sons, Kenneth, David, and Michael Jensen, six grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
