Obituary of Irene Jedlick

Irene N. Jedlick, age 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep April 5, 2013, at her home with her family. She was born in Holladay, Utah on August 25, 1930, to Carl and Lillian Reed; the third of four daughters. Irene moved to Boise with her family when she was just a toddler. She was very close to her sisters and adored her father who passed away when she was only 28. She was proud that her father painted the stars on the dome of the capital building. Irene's little body was riddled with numerous physical and medical problems that caused her to endure tremendous and constant pain most of her life. Beginning at the tender age of 8, she was hospitalized for 9 months after her first back surgery and was unable to get out of bed because the body cast weighed more than she did. This experience may have confined Irene's body to a bed, but it could never capture her spirit or creative mind; she learned to use her incredible drive and focus to soar above this agony. At the age of 16, she met the man of her dreams and the love of her life, Donald R. Jedlick. They married two years later in the Fall of 1948, and were an inseparable couple for 64 ½ years. Irene had two children, John Joseph Jedlick and Debra Ann Jedlick Alvord. She was passionate about her children and treasured every moment being a mom. She and Don shared endless adventures and projects from fishing and camping to building a color TV from a kit, reupholstering and repairing furniture to carving and painting beautiful birds and fish. Irene was a perfectionist and a master planner and problem solver. Her natural project management skills enhanced every endeavor. Irene was an accomplished seamstress and also an amazing artist. She created beautiful acrylic and watercolor painting masterpieces. Irene's deep love for her family extended to her grandchildren, of which she was blessed with six. She enjoyed many adventures with them and they adored her. She also cherished her working years and gained many great friends and fond memories as a result. Irene was a compassionate, loving and giving person that helped many people. She was a great listener and gave sound advice. Her family and friends were blessed by her quick wit and great sense of humor. Although she was small in stature, she was mighty, strong and brave beyond what seemed to be humanly possible and she rarely complained about the hand she was dealt. Irene is survived by her loving husband, Donald R. Jedlick; her son, John J. Jedlick (Annie) and his children: John Taylor (Kim), Jeffrey Jedlick, and Alyssa Fravel; and her daughter, Debra A. Jedlick Alvord (Chet) and their children: Brent S. Alvord (Karla), Amy A. Alvord Shaw (Robert), and Emily A. Alvord LaRocco (Michael); 8 great grand daughters and 3 great grand sons; her sisters, Virginia Rose and Lillian Goehring (Mel); 6 nieces and 5 nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Reed; her mother, Lillian Ross (Rinaldi); and her sister, Grace Clampitt. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Summers Funeral Home, Boise Chapel, 1205 W Bannock St, Boise, with a viewing beginning at Noon. Graveside services will conclude at Dry Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to their favorite charity. The family wishes to convey their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Dan Zuckerman and Marybeth Stein from MSTI and Sharon Farrell from Hearts for Hospice for their loving care and support given to Irene in her last days.
