Obituary of Maxine Jensen

Maxine White Jensen returned to her heavenly home on May 31, 2013. She was born June 2, 1927, in Wells, Nevada to Janet McNiven Durrant and Edward Michael White whom she revered as the grandest parents a girl could ever have. Maxine enjoyed a memorable childhood growing up in Wells alongside her four brothers, Edward, Keith Dee, Frank, Thomas Kay and her sister, Barbara. Her memories of those years of swimming at the Twelve Mile, trips to the desert to chop wood and playing saxophone in the school band were vivid and full of joy. Her parents established the first ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Wells and she was proud to be a part of that great adventure. As a young adult Maxine left home to attend the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. It was there she met the love of her life, Andrew B. (Bud) Jensen. They were married on November 2, 1947 in Ely, Nevada and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1974. Maxine and Bud raised their family of four daughters and a son in Murray, Utah where she enjoyed a full life of service to family, friends and church. Maxine had a firm testimony of the Gospel and the importance of family, which she demonstrated in her everyday life. She was always there with a listening ear, a helping hand or a word of encouragement for those in need. She had many friends, neighbors and family members whom she loved and cared for over the years. She knew her extended family well and delighted in telling stories about them in an effort to keep her family connected. When the children were grown she stretched her wings and started working part-time for the Murray City School District, retiring after 20 years of service. As her family grew with the addition of in-laws and grandchildren she took on the dearly loved nickname of Gigi and continued her nurturing ways and was loved by all for her good humor and positive attitude. After 62 years in Murray she moved to Boise, Idaho in 2009 where she lived in her own home up until her death. Maxine will always be considered an elect lady by her 5 children, her 21 grandchildren and her 55 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, her brothers and her parents. She is survived by her sister Barbara Leary of Las Vegas, Nevada and her children Sandra (Billy Knorpp) Meridian, Idaho; Shauna (Rex Ballou), Oakley, Utah; Jennifer (Richard Virgin), Huntsville, Utah; Susan (Jim Thomas), Star, Idaho and a son, Andrew, Jr., Boise, Idaho. Memorial services will be held June 5, with a viewing at 1:30 PM and funeral services at 3:00 PM, at the LDS Chapel, 190 S. Locust Grove Rd., Meridian, Idaho. A viewing will also be held on June 7, 1:00-1:45 PM at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State St., Murray, Utah, followed immediately by a graveside service at Murray City Cemetery, 5490 S. Vine Street. Arrangements are being handled in Meridian by Summers Funeral Home.
