Obituary of C Freeman

Meridian, ID ---- C. Kay Freeman died August 5, 2013 at her home in Meridian, Idaho surrounded by her family. Kay was born August 24, 1937, in Rexburg Idaho to Leo J. and Elizabeth Christensen Cherry. Kay attended schools in Rigby and graduated from Rigby High School. Shortly after graduating from high school, Kay married Melvin D. Freeman in Rigby, Idaho and then moved to Idaho Falls. They were later divorced. It was in Idaho Falls where she began her career in the medical field working at the District 7 Health Department and the Orthopedic Professional Association. Kay was dedicated to the medical profession, and because of her creative and out-of-the-box thinking she was inspired to expand her focus into health care management. Kay later became a health care executive, a nationally recognized healthcare consultant, a widely published author, and the founder and president of Health Systems Strategies, LLC a health care consulting firm based in Atlanta, Georgia and later in Austin, Texas. Kay was dedicated to her family, friends, and was passionate about her work. Survivors include a daughter Pam (Randy) Ellis of Meridian, ID and a son Mike Freeman of Benicia, CA; three sisters: Nila Briggs of Idaho Falls, Norma Jean (Phillip) Hawkins of Boise, and Joyce Robison of Rigby; a dear friend Shelia Gant of Meridian; five grand children: Justin (Nicole), Cody, and Kalley Ellis; and James and Chris (Angela) Freeman; and three great-grand children: Savannah Ellis and Deviney and Brynnley Freeman. Kay was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Rex Cherry. A private Celebration of Life will be held at her home in Meridian.
