Everyone who knows Uncle Don loves him, his gentle and loving spirit, his funny sense of humor, his taste for warm beer, and, I'll wager, they have been influenced by his singular integrity. He was as genuine a person one could ever know, and had a gift of love and empathy for everyone. No wonder he was nicknamed Jesus!
One of my earliest memories is from the time when Mom, Scott and I would go 'bumming around' on Saturday and then visit Aunt Irene and Uncle Don. We always felt so welcome and right at home with them. Later, Uncle Don would be out when we stopped by, often visiting elderly relatives or neighbors, spending time with them, helping them and bringing food. As I read the wonderful obituary for him I was delighted to see the reciprocity from Don's current neighbors - thank you! The gift of self and time is priceless, which is so like our Uncle Don. Sending this with much love and gratitude that Uncle Don was part of our lives.
