Obituary of Per Johansen

 

Per Johansen, beloved husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa passed away peacefully on May 14, 2021 at the Boise Veterans Home.  He was born in Oslo, Norway on March 24, 1929 to Alf Henry and Synnove Johansen.  He immigrated to the US in 1948, served in the US Army during the Korean war from 1950-53.  He married Lilleba (Lil) on July 14, 1956 in the Logan temple.  Together they raised their family of 5 children.

 

Per loved reading, gardening, telling war stories, and being with his family.  He was friendly to all who knew him.  He was known as being optimistic and cheerful even when facing adversity.  He was proud of his service to his country and loved each member of his family.  After his service in the Army, he worked as a printer, then a salesman for the Hoover company, and eventually opened the Vacuum Chalet in Boise.  He loved serving in his church.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Lilleba; his five children, Roy, Boyd (Jina), Ronnie (Bernie), Linda (Mark), and Teresa (Ken); 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and two younger sisters, Brit and Liv.  He is proceeded in death by his younger brother, Jan.

 

A private graveside service will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.
