A fighter to the end, Marcia left us, lovingly surrounded by her husband, Randy Winn, daughter Robyn Lockett, son Will Davis, and brother Richard Olewiler, Jr., Pancreatic cancer may have overwhelmed her body, but never her spirit and resolve to live each day sharing her love for her family and friends, saying tomorrow will be better. Hers was a life well lived, but way too short.

Marcia was born in Cleveland, Ohio, grew up in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and graduated from Chagrin Falls High School in 1970. She was active in school activities, President of Y-Teens and its Queen at the Y-Teen formal in her senior year. Marcia loved the community spirit of a small town where she led the charge to roll pumpkins down Grove Hill on Halloween, painted the water tower, and had to be retrieved from the police station by her mother when she didn’t manage to leave a wild party soon enough. She attended Ohio University and then graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1974 with a degree in anthropology.

Upon graduation, Marcia moved to California with her mother, brother, and dog, Josh.  Soon she met Bill Davis through family friends. Marcia and Bill were married in 1975.  After a short stint living in Palm Desert, they moved to Eureka, California where she received her teaching degree from Humbolt State University in 1976. Marcia and Bill moved to Boise, Idaho where Bill established his roofing business and Marcia started teaching at Meridian Middle School. She and Bill raised their two wonderful children, Robyn born in 1979, and Will born in 1983, and were together for 13 years before divorcing in 1988.

Forever an entrepreneur with a strong social conscious, Marcia shifted from teaching to creating businesses that provided joy to many. She established and operated the shop, Tomorrow’s Heirlooms on Broadway in the late 1980s, selling crafts and teaching classes, while also partnering with her sister-in-law, Sue Arnhalt to create Gourmet’s Delight Catering. Sue and Marcia, both terrific cooks, served many wonderful lunches at the Women’s Club of Boise for a number of years. If this was not enough to keep her busy, Marcia got her realtors license.  It was while in real estate that Marcia met Randy Winn, a local Realtor/Broker. Marcia and Randy were married in August 2002 and worked together, creating their own company, River City Real Estate, that operated until the global financial crisis and collapse of the US housing market made that no longer feasible.

Marcia’s commitment to the community led her to join the Canyon County Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors in 2003. In 2005, Marcia was asked to become Habitat’s Executive Director and she served in that role until her retirement in 2015.  During that time, Marcia was a tireless fundraiser and energized the organization with her innovative skills, creating events such as the Great Pumpkin Launch and Grapes & Cowboys. Her success in writing grants and fundraising enabled the construction of many homes for grateful families in Canyon County.  As director, she also established Canyon County’s first Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

While at Habitat, Marcia’s long standing interest in teaching, her management expertise, and caring for families, combined with Randy’s building skills and love of children inspired them to create an early learning center, Kootenai Kids Preschool in 2012. K2 as it is known, has become a flourishing center with its emphasis on empowering children, use of innovative teaching techniques and with its dedicated teachers, has helped many dozens of children move on to success in school and life. Marcia managed K2 until her illness slowed her down.

Marcia deeply loved her family, friends, and community.  She was a devoted fan of BSU football and Gonzaga basketball, stalwart cheerleader for her children and grandchildren in their sports and other activities. She loved nature, all birds, and the stars. Marcia will be forever missed, but never forgotten by her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Robyn Lockett (Roddy) and Will Davis (Tara), her grandchildren Charles and Anderson Lockett, Emma and Adeleen Davis; husband Randy Winn and his children, Michelle Winn, Brad Winn (Sara), and Tawnya Cornett (Steve), and Randy’s grandchildren, Anna and Faith Winn, Valon and Xander Winn.  She is also survived by her older sister, Nancy Olewiler (Richard Harris) of Vancouver, BC, their children, Matthew (Alais) and Jessica Harris (Dane Berry), and grandchildren Jo, Henry, and Theodore Harris and Helena and Owen Berry; brother Richard Olewiler, Jr., of Boise; and the Outlaws - Bill Davis, Sue Arnhalt, her children Allyson and Justin, and Wendy (Greg) Hearn.  Marcia loved her friends like family, as well as the parents, children, and teachers from K2. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Richard Olewiler, Sr., (November 1984) and Adeleen Olewiler (May 2020).

Due to Covid-19, a small family service will be held at Morris Hill Cemetery on January 21. When conditions allow, we will celebrate her life in great style. The family thanks her medical team at St. Luke’s - MSTI.  If you feel so inclined, Marcia would love to have you support pancreatic cancer research so others may benefit from better diagnostics and more treatment options or Canyon County Habitat for Humanity.
