Angela Downey

Obituary of Angela Downey

Angela Marie (Struckman) Downey passed peacefully in her sleep early in the morning of Wednesday, April 8 2020.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Rosemary and Lewis Downey, and her sister, Chrissy Werner.

She is survived by her husband, Gerard, three sons: Connor, Thomas, and Kyle, her mother, Margaret Rowan, her father, John Struckman, two nephews, Josh and Kris Werner and many more cousins, nieces and nephews.

Angela was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, where she met her husband and love of her life, Gerry. She left a promising career in corporate finance to travel the world to pursue her dream job of raising her three children and often spoke of her family as her greatest accomplishment. She was a nurse, cheerleader, mediator, comedienne, and teacher throughout her life not only to her sons, but also to her friends, her family, her sons’ friends, and even to passing acquaintances if the opportunity arose.  She volunteered extensively at her children’s schools, taking roles from teaching arts and crafts to career counselling, and did all she could to guide many young minds. She was immensely devoted to her friends and family, and always felt blessed beyond measure by the numerous people included in both groups. She would include her sons’ friends, girlfriends, and even coworkers in her ever-expanding family with no hesitation.

Her heart so overflowed with love; she was driven to be a mother to everyone she met, no matter how short a time she’d known them.

She will be laid to rest in a small graveside service for close friends and family at 2 PM on Thursday, April 16 at Morris Hill Cemetery 317 N Latah Street. Current circumstances preclude a memorial Mass or wake, but both will be scheduled once able.
