My mother, Norma S. Martin, and Knobby were life long friends from Penn State. I had the pleasure of going with Mom to meet Ed & Knobby for lunch every year when they came east to visit with Kathryn.
Mom is 99 years old now-we live together. She is especially sad, not only because she loved Knobby so, but that Knobby is the last of her 'old' friends.
Our love and prayers for the whole family.
I am so saddened at the loss of Arita. I had the good fortune of volunteering at St. Luke's with her. I will never forget her sitting with our friend Betty at the volunteer information desk. She was the flower delivery person and made it a point to deliver each of the flowers one at a time so she could get in her thousands of steps in. She never came to work without that true spirit of volunteering and love for those around her. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and she spoke of how proud she was weekly. I was blessed to be a guest in their home for lunch a couple of times and had the opportunity to enjoy lunch with she and Ed. It was always amazing as we started each meal with Ed announcing the menu. I will miss their friendship, and Arita's wonderful volunteer spirit. Fly high, my friend! May you rest peacefully.
