Obituary of James L. Jones

Jim was born in Denver, CO on October 17, 1923 to James Hogg Jones and Bessie Vial Jones. His father worked for the US Post Office so Jim got the travel bug at an early age.

He  joined the Marine Corp at 18 in 1941 and served until  1945. He was in Carlson's Raiders and saw action on Tarawa, Tinian and several other hot spots in the Pacific Theater.

He was married to Velma Drum from 1945 until she passed away early in 1988.

Jim and Brenda met through mutual friends and were married in December 1988. Both loved to travel and saw most of the world. They especially loved cruises.

Jim was a Past Master of the Masons and also belonged to  other Masonic organizations. He was a member of the El Korah Shrine and also a member of the Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda and two grand nieces, Jan Farnsworth (Mike) and Marsha Edelblute (Barry).

A good friend once commented that if you opened the dictionary to the word "stubborn" you would find Jim's picture next to it.

He was proud of his service to his country. Once a Marine, always a Marine.
