Obituary for Anthony Stoppello

Anthony Stoppello
Anthony "Tony" Stoppello of Boise, Idaho passed away on April 11, 2017 at the age of 70, but his larger than life personality will not be forgotten.

He was born October 9,1946 in Burley, Idaho. He was the middle son of the late Francesco "Frank" Stoppello and the late Ruth Ann Stoppello.

He graduated from Borah High School in 1964 and went on to play football for Boise State, known back then as Boise College. Tony married Michelle Paoletti and fathered two beautiful children. Tony was a police officer with Ada County and Boise City for many years where he earned the nickname, “Street Justice Stoppello.”

He then partnered with his friend Kenny Stans and opened Auto Parts -N- Stuff. During that time he raised hell and two children who loved him deeply. After selling his portion of the business he began serving for the Idaho Army National Guard where he served until his retirement with the rank of Major.

Tony enjoyed fishing, hunting, hard work, racing fast cars and a cold can of beer--never a bottle. He disliked big mouths, know-it-alls, bad drivers and laziness. Above all, he loved his family, his buddies and his Country.

Tony lived his life on his own terms. He would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it. His fondness for Judge Judy was only surpassed by his love of a cold beer with his friends or family. He left a big impression on this Earth and an even bigger mark on the people that loved him so dearly.

Tony is survived by his children, Mario F. Stoppello, his wife Cheri Stoppello, his daughter Angela S. Russell, and her husband Blane Russell Jr., his brothers Frank Stoppello , Monte Stoppello and four grandchildren, Lauren Stoppello, Madeline Stoppello, Dutch Russell, and Houston Russell.

A service to remember Tony's amazing life will be held at Summers Funeral Home, 1205 W. Bannock Street, Boise on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 11:00am with a viewing starting at 10:00am. Following the service, he will receive his military honors and burial at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at exactly 1:00pm.
