Obituary for Melvilyn Nisbett

Melvilyn Nisbett
Melvilyn Sharon Nisbett, 74, of Boise, passed away at home surrounded by four generations of family on April 9, 2017 of natural causes.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at an open house celebration of life from 4:00 PM on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 10107 W. Hickory Ct, Boise, ID 83704. Visitors are welcome to bring a dish to share if they would like.

Mel was born September 30, 1942 in Caldwell, Idaho, daughter of Melvin and Faye Singley. She graduated from Borah High School in 1961 and worked as a bookkeeper and homemaker. In her early years she enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and barrel racing her horses. She participated in the Caldwell Night Rodeo, rode with the Ehcapa Bareback Riders and was an award winning competition shooter with pistols.

Mel married Ron Nisbett in September of 1961 after a whirlwind courtship, their marriage lasted 52 years and beyond. Together they had three daughters; Cyndi (Blackstone), Heather (Loewenstein) and Angie (Robertson), seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

In early years Mel and Ron traveled the country working on the pipeline for gas lines - during this time they lived with 2 daughters out of a travel trailer for months at a time. Mel was highly involved in her children’s lives and the Masonic organizations they were all part of. She was a member of Ladies Oriental Shrine, Daughter’s of the Nile, a Past Guardian of Jobs Daughters Bethel #52 and was highly involved in El Korah Shrine Temple with Ron through many years and roles. This included being a Past Potentate’s Lady. Ron and Mel loved to travel and entertain, always the life of the event.

In later years, Mel loved to be with her family and enjoy her beautiful backyard and flowers. Family dinners were always held at her home and were lively and loving until the day she passed on to dance with Ron in the stars.

She will be remembered as a woman of grace, joy, strength and love. She has passed those characteristics on to the family for whom she was matriarch.

She is survived by her three daughters, Cyndi and husband Eric Blackstone, Heather and husband Lance Loewenstein and Angie and husband Lukas Robertson; her grandchildren Krystl Nelson (and fiancé Tyler Dueling), Arden Blackstone (and fiancé Matthew Creech), Kyle Nelson, Trace Blackstone, Kevan Nelson, Bryce Loewenstein and Terran Blackstone; two great-grandchildren Annon Dueling and Brecken Dueling. She is preceded in death by her parents Mel and Fay, her sister Crystal, brother Delbert and the love of her life, Ron.
